OPEN ROLE
Senior Statistician
Own research projects end to end across disciplines: design, analysis, interpretation and publication-ready reporting, for doctoral, academic and applied researchers.
About the role
We support doctoral and academic researchers in psychology, education, business, economics and the life sciences. They need a statistician who can take a research question and a dataset, choose and defend the right method, run it properly, and write it up in the standard their committee or journal expects.
The Senior Statistician does exactly that, project by project. You work with a Research Coordinator who has scoped the project and handles the client side; you take the analysis from assumptions to final report, with syntax or code the researcher can rerun.
About you
You are a generalist by choice: comfortable moving from a two-way ANOVA to a structural equation model to a multilevel analysis in the same week, and careful about assumptions in each. You know APA and Harvard reporting as well as you know the methods, and you take pride in a results section a supervisor cannot fault.
You want a project-based collaboration on well-defined projects, with the fee and scope clear before you start, alongside your own work.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and carry out analyses across comparative, regression, multivariate, SEM and multilevel methods.
- Check and report assumptions, effect sizes and model fit, and explain what they mean for the research question.
- Produce fully interpreted reports in APA, Harvard or the journal's format, with tables, figures and reproducible syntax.
- Clean and prepare datasets where the project includes it, and document what was done.
- Answer the researcher's follow-up questions on the delivered analysis, through the Research Coordinator.
- Flag scope changes or methodological concerns early.
Required experience and competencies
- PhD in Statistics, Psychology (quantitative), Education (measurement), Economics or a related quantitative field.
- Six or more years of applied statistical analysis for academic or applied research.
- Expert in SPSS and at least one of R, Stata, AMOS or SmartPLS; strong in regression, ANOVA family, factor analysis and SEM.
- Fluent in APA 7 reporting and in writing results sections for review.
- Reliable on deadlines and clear in written English.
- Based in the United States.
ALSO VALUED
- Experience with Mplus, Jamovi or JASP.
- Mixed methods work in NVivo or MAXQDA.
- Teaching or supervising experience in research methods.
How we work together
This is a partnership, not a salaried position. Our core team of PhD-level statisticians is in-house; for specialized projects we bring in a partner statistician, also PhD-qualified and based in the United States, who works under our management, our confidentiality terms and our review. When a project that matches your expertise comes in, we bring you into it. The scope and your fee for that project are agreed before any work begins, so there is never an open-ended commitment on either side. A Research Coordinator handles client contact, scoping and timelines, so your time goes to the statistics. Every project is confidential, and so is your application.
HOW WE HIRE
Four Steps, No Surprises
Email, a conversation, a short exercise, then agreement. The process usually takes two to three weeks.
Apply by email
CV, a short note on how you work, and one piece of work you can share.
A conversation
Forty-five minutes with a senior statistician about your experience and ours.
A realistic exercise
A small analysis on a prepared dataset, in your own time. We discuss it together.
Agreement and first project
Clear partnership terms, then your first project, scoped and priced before it starts.
