GENERAL APPLICATION
General Application
No open role fits, but you are a PhD-level statistician or methodologist who works the way we do? Tell us by email, and we will consider you for projects that match your expertise.
Who we are looking for
Our open roles describe the specializations we need most now. Beyond them, we are always interested in experienced statisticians and methodologists whose work matches ours: careful, well-documented analysis for researchers who will be judged on it.
That includes quantitative statisticians across disciplines, psychometricians and measurement specialists, qualitative and mixed methods analysts working in NVivo or MAXQDA, and methodologists who review and strengthen other people's analyses.
About you
You hold a PhD, have at least six years of applied experience, and are based in the United States. You would rather do fewer projects well than many quickly, and you are comfortable working through a Research Coordinator rather than directly with the client.
You are looking for a project-based collaboration, with scope and fee agreed before each project, alongside your own work.
What a collaboration looks like
- You are brought into projects that match your expertise, as they arise.
- Scope and fee are agreed for each project before work begins.
- A Research Coordinator handles the client side; you handle the analysis and reporting.
- Your work is reviewed before delivery, and you review others' where relevant.
- Every project is confidential, under OnlineSPSS terms.
What we ask of every partner
- PhD in a statistical, methodological or quantitative field.
- Six or more years of applied research analysis.
- Expert in the software your specialization uses, with reproducible output.
- Clear written English and reporting to academic or journal standards.
- Reliability on agreed deadlines.
- Based in the United States.
ALSO VALUED
- A specialization we do not list yet.
- Publications or reviewing experience.
- Experience supporting doctoral researchers.
How we work together
This is a partnership, not a salaried position. Our core team of PhD-level statisticians is in-house; for specialized projects we bring in a partner statistician, also PhD-qualified and based in the United States, who works under our management, our confidentiality terms and our review. When a project that matches your expertise comes in, we bring you into it. The scope and your fee for that project are agreed before any work begins, so there is never an open-ended commitment on either side. A Research Coordinator handles client contact, scoping and timelines, so your time goes to the statistics. Every project is confidential, and so is your application.
HOW WE HIRE
Four Steps, No Surprises
Email, a conversation, a short exercise, then agreement. The process usually takes two to three weeks.
Apply by email
CV, a short note on how you work, and one piece of work you can share.
A conversation
Forty-five minutes with a senior statistician about your experience and ours.
A realistic exercise
A small analysis on a prepared dataset, in your own time. We discuss it together.
Agreement and first project
Clear partnership terms, then your first project, scoped and priced before it starts.
