1. Our Commitment to Research Integrity

At OnlineSPSS, research integrity is fundamental to the statistical consultancy services we provide.

We believe that credible research depends on appropriate methodology, accurate analysis, transparent reporting, and responsible interpretation of findings.

Our role is to provide specialist statistical expertise that supports researchers in conducting and communicating rigorous research.

We work with doctoral researchers, academic institutions, healthcare professionals, research organizations, and businesses across a range of disciplines.

Our services are designed to support legitimate research activity while respecting the responsibilities, intellectual contributions, and ethical obligations of the researchers we serve.

This policy explains our approach to professional statistical practice, academic integrity, research authorship, analytical transparency, and responsible collaboration.

2. The Role of Statistical Consultancy in Research

Statistical consultancy is an established part of academic and professional research.

Researchers frequently collaborate with statisticians, data analysts, methodological advisers, and other specialists to address the technical requirements of their studies.

OnlineSPSS operates within this professional consultancy model.

Depending on the agreed Scope of Work, our services may include:

  • Research design and methodological consultation.
  • Sample size and statistical power analysis.
  • Data preparation, cleaning, and validation.
  • Quantitative statistical analysis and modeling.
  • Qualitative and mixed-methods analysis.
  • Statistical interpretation and results reporting.
  • Preparation of publication-ready analytical tables, figures, and results sections.
  • Meta-analysis and evidence synthesis.
  • Independent statistical review and methodological assessment.

Our contribution is focused on the statistical, analytical, and methodological components of research.

The researcher retains responsibility for the overall intellectual direction of the study, including its research questions, theoretical framework, substantive argument, and final conclusions.

We do not operate as a service for completing academic coursework or producing entire dissertations, theses, or research papers on behalf of individuals.

3. Academic Integrity and Researcher Responsibilities

OnlineSPSS supports the responsible use of external statistical expertise.

Researchers are responsible for understanding and complying with the academic integrity requirements of their institution, publisher, funding organization, or other relevant authority.

These requirements may address the use of external consultants, acknowledgment of specialist assistance, research authorship, and disclosure of analytical contributions.

We encourage researchers to clarify relevant institutional or publication requirements before engaging external statistical support.

The use of a statistical consultant does not automatically constitute academic misconduct. However, whether a particular arrangement is permitted, and how it must be acknowledged, depends on the applicable institutional, research, and publication rules.

OnlineSPSS does not encourage clients to misrepresent the origin of analytical work or conceal contributions where disclosure is required.

Our objective is to support researchers in meeting appropriate professional and academic standards.

4. Statistical Integrity and Methodological Independence

Our statistical work is guided by the research objectives, available evidence, methodological requirements, and professional judgment.

We aim to select and apply analytical methods appropriate to the study design, data structure, and research questions.

Where relevant to the agreed services, we consider:

  • Suitability of statistical tests and models.
  • Underlying methodological assumptions.
  • Sample size and statistical power.
  • Missing data and potential sources of bias.
  • Effect sizes and confidence intervals.
  • Model diagnostics and sensitivity analyses.
  • Distinctions between exploratory and confirmatory analyses.
  • Appropriate interpretation of statistical findings.
  • Limitations affecting the reliability or generalizability of results.

We do not knowingly modify analyses to achieve predetermined statistical significance or produce findings preferred by a client.

Where the requested methodology is unsuitable or potentially misleading, we will explain the concern and recommend an appropriate alternative.

Material changes to the agreed Scope of Work will be discussed with the client before proceeding.

5. Accurate and Transparent Reporting

OnlineSPSS aims to provide statistical results that are accurately calculated, appropriately interpreted, and clearly reported.

Depending on the project requirements, deliverables may include:

  • Statistical tables and figures.
  • Model estimates and diagnostic results.
  • Effect sizes and measures of uncertainty.
  • Confidence intervals and significance tests.
  • Clearly interpreted analytical findings.
  • Relevant methodological explanations.
  • Documentation of assumptions and limitations.
  • Statistical scripts and output files, where included in the agreement.

Where specified in the Scope of Work, results may be formatted according to APA, journal, institutional, or other relevant reporting requirements.

We seek to distinguish between findings supported by the analysis and interpretations that require additional assumptions or evidence.

We do not intentionally suppress unfavorable findings, misrepresent statistical significance, or report unsupported conclusions as established facts.

Publication-ready reporting means preparing the agreed analytical material to an appropriate professional standard. It does not guarantee acceptance by any journal, university, or other institution.

6. Research Misconduct and Unacceptable Requests

OnlineSPSS does not knowingly participate in research fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or deliberate misrepresentation of findings.

We will not knowingly undertake requests intended to:

  • Fabricate research observations or statistical results.
  • Alter datasets dishonestly to support a preferred conclusion.
  • Misrepresent statistical significance or analytical outcomes.
  • Conceal material findings in a misleading manner.
  • Present false sample sizes or research populations.
  • Misrepresent research methods that were not actually performed.
  • Create misleading analyses intended to support fraudulent or deceptive claims.
  • Facilitate academic misconduct or violations of applicable research regulations.

Legitimate data cleaning, corrections of documented errors, transformations, exclusion criteria, and sensitivity analyses remain appropriate when methodologically justified and transparently documented.

Where a request raises serious research integrity concerns, OnlineSPSS may seek clarification, recommend a compliant alternative, or decline or suspend the affected work.

Any such decision will be handled in accordance with the applicable project agreement, confidentiality obligations, and law.

7. Research Authorship and Acknowledgment

The distinction between statistical consultancy and research authorship is important.

OnlineSPSS provides specialist analytical contributions. These services do not automatically establish an entitlement to authorship of a manuscript or other research output.

Authorship must be determined according to the applicable standards of the relevant journal, institution, discipline, or research organization.

In some circumstances, a substantial statistical contribution may form part of the criteria considered for authorship. In others, acknowledgment of statistical assistance may be more appropriate.

Clients remain responsible for ensuring that required acknowledgments, contributor statements, funding disclosures, and other relevant declarations are made.

OnlineSPSS does not impose a general requirement for public acknowledgment in every engagement.

Where acknowledgment or disclosure is required by applicable publication or institutional standards, clients must comply with those requirements.

Any use of an individual consultant’s name, professional affiliation, or endorsement in a publication should be agreed with the person concerned.

8. Responsible Use of Statistical Software and AI

OnlineSPSS uses established statistical and research software according to the methodological needs of each engagement.

Some software applications incorporate automation, machine learning, and AI-assisted features.

These technologies may be used where appropriate and consistent with the agreed Scope of Work, confidentiality obligations, and applicable data protection requirements.

Our approach emphasizes human statistical oversight.

Professional responsibility for methodological decisions, validation of analytical outputs, and interpretation of results remains with the qualified personnel performing the work.

We do not treat unverified AI-generated material as a substitute for professionally validated statistical analysis.

Where the use of AI-assisted technology requires disclosure under a journal’s, institution’s, or research funder’s rules, the relevant disclosure requirements must be respected.

Confidential or regulated research data will not be submitted to external AI services without appropriate assessment and any necessary safeguards or authorization.

9. Research Data Integrity and Confidentiality

OnlineSPSS recognizes that responsible statistical practice requires appropriate handling of research data.

Clients should provide accurate, lawfully obtained research materials and identify any relevant methodological, ethical, or data protection restrictions.

We ask clients to remove unnecessary direct personal identifiers before submitting datasets.

Research information is handled according to our Privacy Policy and Confidentiality & Data Security Policy.

We do not use confidential datasets, unpublished findings, or other restricted research materials for unrelated commercial purposes without appropriate authorization.

The retention and deletion arrangements for research project files are described in our Privacy Policy, rather than separately restated in this research integrity policy.

Where necessary, additional confidentiality or data processing agreements may be established for institutional and regulated research projects.

10. Ethical Requirements for Healthcare and Clinical Research

Healthcare and clinical research may involve additional ethical and regulatory responsibilities.

Clients are responsible for identifying applicable requirements relating to research ethics approval, data access, patient information, consent, and lawful data processing.

Where necessary, OnlineSPSS may request confirmation of relevant approvals or permissions before commencing an engagement.

The applicable safeguards depend on the nature of the research, the data involved, and the roles of the participating organizations.

Our statistical consultancy does not, unless separately and expressly agreed, constitute clinical diagnosis, medical treatment advice, or regulatory approval of a research study.

We aim to provide accurate and appropriately qualified statistical findings that support responsible research interpretation.

11. Professional Independence and Conflicts of Interest

OnlineSPSS seeks to maintain professional independence in its statistical work.

Analytical decisions should be based on appropriate methodology and evidence rather than pressure to produce a particular conclusion.

Where an actual or potential conflict of interest could materially affect an engagement, we will consider its implications and take appropriate steps to manage or disclose the conflict.

Depending on the circumstances, this may involve clarification of responsibilities, additional review, agreed safeguards, or declining a particular engagement.

We encourage clients to communicate any applicable institutional or publication disclosure requirements before work begins.

12. Quality Assurance and Corrections

OnlineSPSS aims to deliver statistical analyses with reasonable professional care and skill.

Our work may include appropriate validation, diagnostic checks, review of statistical procedures, and verification of reported results according to the agreed services.

If a client identifies a potential error or methodological concern, we encourage them to provide the relevant details for review.

Where a material deficiency attributable to OnlineSPSS is verified, we will take appropriate corrective action without additional charge.

If reasonable corrective efforts do not resolve the problem, an appropriate partial or full refund may be available in accordance with our Refund & Cancellation Policy and applicable law.

Researchers are encouraged to raise substantive methodological concerns at any stage. The standard revision period does not extinguish applicable statutory rights concerning deficient services.

13. Responsibilities of OnlineSPSS and the Researcher

A successful research collaboration depends on a clear understanding of responsibilities.

OnlineSPSS is responsible for:

  • Performing the agreed statistical and methodological services.
  • Exercising appropriate professional judgment.
  • Communicating material analytical concerns.
  • Reporting results accurately and transparently.
  • Maintaining agreed confidentiality and data protection safeguards.
  • Correcting verified deficiencies attributable to its work.

The researcher is responsible for:

  • Defining and directing the underlying research objectives.
  • Providing accurate and lawfully obtained research materials.
  • Securing necessary ethical approvals and permissions.
  • Complying with institutional and publication requirements.
  • Making final decisions about the study’s substantive conclusions.
  • Ensuring appropriate acknowledgment or disclosure of external assistance where required.
  • Reviewing and taking responsibility for their final submitted research.

These responsibilities may be further defined in the accepted project proposal or a separate institutional agreement.

14. Reporting Ethical Concerns

Clients who have concerns about the methodological integrity, accuracy, or professional conduct of work performed by OnlineSPSS may contact us directly.

We will review concerns in good faith, assess the relevant evidence and project requirements, and seek an appropriate resolution.

Concerns will be handled confidentially, subject to applicable legal obligations.

We do not treat good-faith methodological disagreement or an unexpected research finding as evidence of misconduct in itself.

Where a concern involves suspected misconduct, we may take appropriate action in accordance with the agreement, professional responsibilities, and applicable law.

15. Commitment to Responsible Research

OnlineSPSS believes that the value of statistical consultancy lies not only in technical execution but also in the integrity and reliability of the results it produces.

We are committed to supporting research through appropriate methodology, transparent analysis, accurate interpretation, and professional accountability.

Our role is to contribute specialist statistical expertise while respecting the researcher’s intellectual independence, institutional obligations, and responsibility for the final research output.
