Getting Started
6 questions
What is OnlineSPSS?
A specialist statistical consultancy for researchers in academic, clinical and applied settings. Our in-house PhD-level statisticians support you from study design through to interpreted results and reporting, in SPSS, R, Stata, SAS, Python, NVivo, MAXQDA and other specialist tools. We have been serving researchers since 2014. Learn more about us.
How do I get started?
Share your research and data details through our assessment request form. A statistically trained Research Coordinator reviews your project personally and replies the same working day. You then receive the scope of work, a fixed fee and an estimated timeline, and you commit to nothing until you accept it.
Can you help if I haven't collected my data yet?
We support researchers at the planning stage: study design, power analysis and sample size calculation, before data collection begins, through our research planning and study design service.
Is getting statistical analysis help legitimate?
Statistical consultancy is an established academic practice. Universities employ statistical consultants, and published research routinely acknowledges analytical support. We provide the agreed methodological, analytical and reporting support. The research question, the interpretation, the conclusions and the responsibility for the study remain yours, and so does authorship.
Do I need an account or login?
No. There is no account or login at any stage. You share your project details through the request form, and your Research Coordinator handles everything from there, from your assessment through to delivery of the agreed outputs.
Can I see examples of your work?
Our example projects show the kind of work we deliver across disciplines, methods and software. Project information is not published, so the examples are illustrative.
Confidentiality & Data
6 questions
Is my data kept confidential?
Confidentiality is built into how we work. Research data and project details are handled confidentially, and project information is not published. Read more about confidentiality and data security.
Who actually sees my data?
Your project is handled by your Research Coordinator and the in-house statistician carrying out the analysis, both within the same organization. Research data and project details are handled confidentially.
Can I get an NDA before sharing my data?
Yes. An NDA is available where required, and it can be arranged before sensitive materials are shared.
How do I share my data securely?
Share only what the assessment needs at first, such as your research objectives and a description of your data or study plan. Your Research Coordinator tells you what else is needed, and if you would like extra assurance before sharing sensitive materials, an NDA can be arranged first. Read more about confidentiality and data security.
What happens to my data after the project is complete?
Research data and project details are handled confidentially throughout and after your project, and project information is not published. If your ethics approval or institution sets conditions for how study data is handled, share them with your Research Coordinator at the start. Read more about confidentiality and data security.
Will anyone know I worked with you?
Researcher names and institutions are not used publicly without permission, and project information is not published. Reviews on our site are shown without names. You can read them on our testimonials page.
Pricing & Quotes
4 questions
Why don't you have a fixed price list?
Because no two research projects are the same. Your fee reflects the methods involved, the scope of support, the size and complexity of your data, and your reporting requirements. You receive one fixed fee, the agreed scope and an estimated timeline before you commit to anything. See how pricing works.
Is the assessment complimentary?
Yes. You receive a fixed fee, the agreed scope of work and an estimated timeline before you pay or commit to anything.
What if I don't want to proceed after seeing the quote?
You can decline with no obligation, and nothing is charged unless you accept the quotation and decide to proceed. Your project details are handled confidentially, and an NDA is available where required. See how pricing and quotes work.
When do I pay?
Payment is arranged only after you approve your quotation. You can pay securely by card through Stripe Checkout or by a secure PayPal request, in USD, GBP or EUR. Most projects are paid upfront, while larger engagements may qualify for milestone payments, and invoicing arrangements can be discussed for universities, research institutions and grant-funded projects. Your Research Coordinator explains the arrangement for your project. Our pricing page explains payment in more detail.
Services & Software
6 questions
Which software do you work with?
IBM SPSS, R, Stata, SAS, Python, GraphPad Prism, Mplus, SmartPLS, NVivo, MAXQDA and ATLAS.ti. The analysis is carried out in-house by our statisticians in the tool that fits your method and your institution’s requirements. See our software expertise.
Do you only do quantitative analysis?
No. We also provide qualitative and mixed methods analysis, including thematic analysis, IPA, grounded theory and framework analysis in NVivo and MAXQDA, through our qualitative and mixed methods analysis service.
Can you tell me which statistical test I need?
If you are unsure which method fits your data and research question, request an assessment. Your Research Coordinator confirms the right approach with a statistician before any fee is set. You can also browse our statistical methods.
Can you review an analysis I have already completed?
Independent statistical review checks the method, assumptions, output and reporting of work already done, and tells you what holds and what needs changing. Learn more about our independent statistical review service.
Do you cover my research discipline?
Medicine and health, psychology, education, business and economics, the life sciences, and most other academic and clinical fields. See the research disciplines we cover.
Can you help with a systematic review or meta-analysis?
Yes. Our meta-analysis service covers effect sizes, pooling models, heterogeneity, publication bias and PRISMA reporting, carried out by in-house PhD-level statisticians. Learn more about our meta-analysis and evidence synthesis service.
Process & Communication
5 questions
Can I speak to the statistician directly?
All communication runs through your Research Coordinator, who is trained in statistics and manages your project from start to finish. This keeps your project consistent and confidential, and lets your statistician concentrate on the analysis. Every question about the work is answered in full; it is simply routed through one person. See how it works.
What's the difference between the Research Coordinator and the statistician?
Your Research Coordinator is your single point of contact. Because they are trained in statistics, your questions are understood properly rather than relayed word for word. Your statistician works in-house on the analysis itself. See how it works.
How quickly will I get a response to my initial inquiry?
Every request is reviewed personally, and we reply the same working day. A detailed proposal may need a little more review, and we tell you when it does.
How long does an analysis take?
Timelines depend on the project and are confirmed in your assessment. Complex work such as a meta-analysis or a structural equation model needs longer. If your deadline is close, say so when you request an assessment, and we tell you plainly whether it can be met.
What if my deadline changes?
Tell your Research Coordinator as early as you can. We accommodate the change where we can, and we tell you if it affects the agreed timeline or scope.
After Delivery
4 questions
What will I receive?
A fully interpreted written report in the standard you require (APA, Harvard, journal or institutional format), with the supporting files agreed for your project: software output, syntax or script files, and a cleaned dataset where relevant.
What if I need revisions after delivery?
Tell your Research Coordinator what needs adjusting. Clarifications and reasonable revisions within the agreed scope are included for 30 days after delivery, unless your proposal says otherwise. Larger changes, such as new analyses or a changed dataset, are scoped and agreed before any further work begins.
Will my results meet my supervisor's or journal's requirements?
Every deliverable is formatted to the academic or reporting standard you require. We ask for institutional or journal guidelines at the start so the results meet them.
Can I come back for further analysis later?
Researchers often return at a later stage of their research, and your Research Coordinator picks up where your project left off. Additional work is scoped and agreed in advance.
